Although the European media have been talking a lot about the Flamengo starlet Lucas Paquetá and his pretenders, the Brazilian press had been pretty quiet about it, just covering the rumours.
But there’s finally some update on the situation coming from Globo Esporte this Monday, saying the club leading the race for the midfielder isn’t Manchester United or Barcelona. It’s Paris Saint Germain.
Even with no offers made, the French side are said to be opening talks for the 21-year-old, with big help from Neymar, who’s a big admirer of Paquetá.
Now comes the interesting part: one of the reasons why PSG are after Paquetá is because one of their midfielders, Adrien Rabiot, could be joining Manchester City.
Globo Esporte claims that an ‘approach’ between the French midfielder and Pep Guardiola’s side is making PSG look for a replacement, and they’ve internally approved Paquetá to be the one.
As the story is completely focused on the Brazilian player, there’s not much more to tell about Manchester City and Rabiot, but it’s quite interesting to see that this possible move is starting to be taken seriously by PSG.
