January is just around the corner and clubs are forging ahead, planning for whatever business they can do to cover up the holes in the squad.
Fiorentina are one such side, with them sitting ninth in the Serie A table and in need of a push if they are move up the table in the second half of the campaign.
La Repubblica cover their situation today, and it seems a Leicester City midfielder may be on their wishlist come the winter window.
The newspaper explains that Fiorentina are targeting two additions in January. One of them is an ‘offensive defender’, and the other is a midfielder.
It is the need for the latter that may lead them to Leicester, as Dennis Praet is one of the names that has been ‘proposed by various intermediaries’.
Praet joined Leicester in the summer transfer window in an £18.9m deal from Sampdoria but has yet to establish himself at the King Power Stadium.
While he has 11 appearances under his belt this season, only five of those have been starts, and he has only managed 90 minutes for Leicester once this season in the 4-0 win over Luton Town in the Carabao Cup.
That makes him a potential option for Fiorentina, although he remains just a ‘hypothesis’ at this point as the Italian side need to move players on and bring the size of the squad down first.
