Still contracted to Middlesbrough until 2019, Gaston Ramirez’s future could be far away from Riverside.
Starting just over half of Boro’s games in the Premier League next season, the 26-year-old failed to appear in the club’s last four games, seemingly pushed to one side after being sent off just 20 minutes into a 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
So far, just one club had been linked with a move for the Uruguay international, and that was Benfica in Portugal, yet that appears to have gone quiet since the beginning of last month.
However, a second club have apparently come forward with an interest in the Middlesbrough playmaker, and that is Nantes in Ligue 1.
This shouldn’t really come as a surprise as the French side are now managed by Claudio Ranieri, who wanted Ramirez during his time at Leicester.
The information comes from 20 Minutes in France, who claim to have had it confirmed by Nantes themselves, making it a rather reliable story.
There’s no indication of any moves being made yet, but that’s something we’ll be looking out for in the near future.
