Former Leeds United defender Robert Molenaar has been confirmed as the new manager of Dutch side Roda JC . The 48 year old was previously the coach of FC Volendam, and the Dutchman now gets the chance to finally manage in the Eredivisie.

Roda’s website has today confirmed the arrival of their new sporting director Harm van Veldhoven, and one of the first decisions he’s made is to bring in Molenaar.

The club were nearly relegated to the second tier last season, and subsequently there’s been major changes this summer. It’s been reported Molenaar will be given a budget of €10m to spend on new recruits for next season.

Molenaar spent 3 seasons at Elland Road, where he gained a cult status with the Leeds United fans. The Dutch coach earned the nickname ‘The Terminator’ from the Leeds United supporters for his uncompromising style of play.

The central defender played over 51 league games for Leeds United before his transfer to Bradford City in 2000. Maybe Molenaar could end up back at Elland Road as manager in the future.
