Last month we covered German insistence that Tottenham are keen on signing Jann-Fiete Arp from Hamburg.
The 18 year old was said to be on Mauricio Pochettino’s wish-list, and this all followed earlier claims that Tottenham had initiated contact over a potential transfer.
Tottenham were brought into the picture in November, when it was claimed the club had made some sort of contact about a deal.
At the time it was more Chelsea and Arsenal who had been linked with the young striker, but since then Spurs have been pushed out in front and are the English club most often linked in Germany.
Today Bild take a look at players who could be leaving Hamburg should the club be relegated. Dropping down from the Bundesliga is looking likely for HSV and it would be the first relegation in the club’s proud history.
Should it happen, Bild feel there’s only a 20% chance Arp would stay at Hamburg, making a transfer sound very likely indeed.
This of course helps all the stars align for Tottenham, and another benefit is that HSV would need to bring some money in, meaning Arp could be available for around €7.5m.
If the Tottenham interest is as serious as has been reported then they can take joy from Hamburg’s sorrows.
