Siem de Jong has seen his time at Newcastle United largely hampered by injury, and now he could see an opportunity for a fresh start again held back by injury too.
Claims in the Dutch media of interest from PSV in the player have been around today, and growing, with there even being suggestions of talks being held on a potential deal.
But that may all be going forward much quicker than anything genuine from PSV, with the Eredivisie club keeping their options open as De Jong returns from a hamstring injury.
Soccernews quote Eindhoven journalist Rik Elfrink as saying De Jong is still 2 to 3 weeks away from returning to action. Therefore, whilst there are transfer possibilities, all options are being kept open at the moment.
Three weeks would take De Jong to the end of the transfer window, and it may well be that he could be a last minute swoop for someone. Much of that depends on Newcastle United’s wishes, with the injury situation of course being a frustration for them too.
