Cengiz Ünder’s loan move to Leicester City has been nothing short of a disappointment.
The Foxes took the winger on a temporary deal from AS Roma in the last summer transfer market, with an option to make the transfer permanent.
He has been in poor form for Brendan Rodgers’ side and while that continued, the 23-year-old picked up an injury in March.
It’s been repeatedly explained the Premier League side will not exercise the option to make the Turkey international’s stay permanent, meaning he will have to return to the Serie A side, where his future is uncertain.
Corriere dello Sport has a report on Tuesday focusing on how the Giallorossi’s squad for next season would look with Maurizio Sarri in charge. The ex-Chelsea manager is expected to replace Paulo Fonseca after this campaign.
Both Sarri and Ünder are managed by Fali Ramadani, and the representative is ‘working to bring’ the coach to Roma.
It’s claimed the 62-year-old will not deviate from his 4-3-3 formation and he has plans to include the current Leicester player in his plans at the Italian capital club.
The incoming manager ‘would like’ to retain Ünder, who will return from his loan spell at the King Power Stadium.
Sarri tried to sign the wideman for Napoli in the past.
