Dean Huijsen has emerged as one of the best young defenders in the world at Bournemouth this season.
Tiago Pinto, who masterminded the move from Juventus in the summer, had also signed the centre-back on loan during his stint at AS Roma.
The Portuguese director clearly knows Huijsen quite well from his time in Italy and has now spoken to Gianluca di Marzio about the defender.
Pinto stated that the youngster is headed right for the top and also spoke of how his teammates were in awe right after he joined Roma on loan last year.
The Cherries’ sporting director said: “When Huijsen arrived in Rome, two days later his teammates were asking me where I had found someone like him.
“For me today he is one of the five best central defenders in the world and in two years he will be the best. Signing Huijsen is like taking a lottery ticket knowing that it is already a winner.”
Speaking of Huijsen’s abilities, strengths and his background, Pinto explained: “Dean also because of his family has grown to be the number one. He has a crazy mentality, crazy self-confidence, he is a very intelligent boy, he speaks five languages and has incredible support from his family. It can’t go badly.”
All of this only adds to the buzz around the Bournemouth player, who can still play a role in guiding Andoni Iraola’s side to a possible European spot this season.
Multiple clubs are already being linked with the Spaniard and questions are being raised of how Juventus let him go so easily last summer.
Due to Huijsen’s release clause, it is fair to say that Bournemouth only have a certain amount of control over the player. The most they can do is make sure that they earn the entire release clause and use that money in the best way possible.
