Tottenham Hotspur allowed Sergio Reguilón go out on loan to Atlético Madrid last summer after he was left out of Antonio Conte’s plans.

The left-back has been restricted to 97 minutes of action from five matches this season, and has failed to have prominence due to injuries, suspension and poor form.

On Thursday, Estadio Deportivo suggested Atlético don’t intend to retain the Tottenham owned player beyond this season. This is now backed up by today’s Marca.

Reinildo has suffered a serious injury and is expected to be on the sidelines for the next seven to eight months. This has seen the Madrid club change their plans for the next window.

Atlético sporting director Andrea Beta has started searching the market for a new left-back.

This need arose because Diego Simeone’s side don’t want to rely upon the Spurs man and Renan Lodi, who’s on loan at Nottingham Forest from Atlético.

Reguilón’s injuries and failure to impress has made it ‘impossible’ for Los Rojiblancos to ask Tottenham to extend his loan deal.

The 26-year-old will return to the north London club and find out whether he will continue there or move elsewhere in the summer.
