As Catalan outlet Sport today details Ronald Araujo’s situation at Barcelona, Manchester United are pointed out as one of the alternatives for the defender’s future.
The newspaper explains that the 22-year-old, who’s been important for the La Liga giants this season, is currently working to get a better contract at the club.
Despite a growing importance within Barcelona’s defender, Sport claims that his salary is far from matching what he actually deserves, as he makes much less than Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet and Eric Garcia.
So with his current deal expiring in 2023, the Uruguayan is set to ask the Catalan side to value his form and extend his deal with a salary which rewards his progress.
Sport claims that Araujo has ‘very important offers’ to leave Barcelona. Manchester United are said to be one of the clubs who have their sights on him, along with other Premier League sides.
Since it’s not a secret that Barcelona can’t offer huge deals these days, it will be interesting to see how the story develops, as the defender ‘wants a large and important’ contract.
