Pablo Fornals’ complete jubilation at scoring for Spain, on his full debut, was clear for all to see as the West Ham player exploded with joy.
He’s getting a lot of coverage across the Spanish media today, with his celebration taking multiple front pages. There’s a positive feeling around Spain’s young squad at the moment, as Luis Enrique looks to build a new successful era for the national team.
Beating Kosovo 2-0 on Wednesday evening, Spain are in an excellent position to qualify for the World Cup. Greece’s 2-1 victory over Sweden has helped that, and Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo has a front page shouting ‘Muchas Grecias’.
Over at AS, they carry some comments Fornals made after the Spain match.
When asked how he felt, the West Ham player said: “I’m very happy. I could not have imagined such a good debut even as a child. My first game with the starting team and on top of that, scoring a goal.”
Asked how he thought his family would be feeling having watched the match, Fornals said: “If I’m happy, imagine them. I know they must feel immense joy.”
West Ham and David Moyes can now look forward to welcoming back a very happy player, and one who will be determined to keep his place in the Spain squad.
