Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has now joined the Brazilian national team for the friendlies against United States and El Salvador.

The 24-year-old had been called up a couple of times between 2015 and 2016, but failed to impress manager Tite and stayed out of the squad since then.

Now after two years, and for the first time as a Liverpool player, Fabinho returns to wearing the yellow shirt. He spoke about it to CBFTV this weekend.

“It’s important to be returning to the national team in this post-World Cup period,” said Fabinho (via Globo Esporte). “It’s been two years out and I’m very excited. I hope to do my best for my presence to be frequent.”

“There is that eagerness to see the teammates, meet others, and even the technical staff, which I have not yet had the opportunity to work with. I’m anxious.”

Fabinho has four appearances for Brazil. He played friendlies against Mexico, Honduras and Panama, and also a Copa America game against the United States. In all of them, he featured in midfield, so this should be the first chance he gets in his natural position.

Signed by Liverpool in a €45m move from Monaco this summer, the player is still to make his debut for the Reds, despite being fit. Manager Jurgen Klopp keeps saying that the midfielder ‘needs time’.
