Spanish newspaper AS today feature an interview with Manchester City left-back Sergio Gomez, who’s currently with the U-21 national team squad.

With the youngster being part of a club who’ve just won the treble, the outlet wanted to know a lot about his time in England and his future there. Especially because he couldn’t get much playing time in his first season at the English side.

That’s why Gomez was asked about what Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola told him before the summer break. And the player insisted his future is very clear.

“I haven’t talked to him about the next season, but I want to stay there,” Gomez told AS.

“I’m going to go from the first day of the preseason with a lot of desire to show him that I can have more minutes.”

Asked if an exit from Manchester City is planned, the player clarified his situation again.

“The idea is to stay there. It is my wish.”

Gomez was even asked if after winning a Champions League title, his national teammates started treating him with more respect, but he claims he never wanted that.

“(Laughs) No, luckily they keep pranking me. I am also a joker and I like that game.”

The Manchester City fullback is part of Spain’s squad which will be playing at the U-21 Euros this month. Their first game in the tournament is on Wednesday, when they face Romania in the group stage.
