Moise Kean finally left Everton permanently almost exactly a year ago to the day, when his loan to Juventus was triggered into a longer term move.

He’d joined Everton from Juventus in the summer 2019 window in a big money transfer. The Turin club were looking to raise cash and with Kean still having a market, he was pushed towards the exit.

Everton took advantage of that but it never really worked out for the forward at Goodison Park, despite his obvious talent. The return to Juventus has worked out in a similar way, with up and down periods and hope of a breakthrough in talent fulfilment often being dashed.

During the January transfer window, Kean almost moved to Atletico Madrid, but the deal collapsed due to medical concerns.

The 24-year-old hasn’t played since early December and hasn’t scored a goal all season, and it would appear that ahead of a return for the Serie A side, the penny has finally dropped.

Quoted by AS, Kean spoke about his failed move: “It was very hard. I felt disappointed. I was with my mother and my family and I felt like I had let them down.

“She made me understand that life doesn’t stop there. I have to move on, I am a grown man and I have to take my responsibilities and work hard. Before I didn’t know what it meant to work hard. I said: I have talent, why should I work hard? Then I saw that people grow by working and I want to be at the top, that’s why I started training so hard.”

Finally.
