Leeds United target Nico Elvedi has admitted he expects to be discussing a transfer in the summer transfer window.
The Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back has been speaking to SRF, where he admitted he’s expecting a busy summer again after being heavily linked with a move away last year.
The Switzerland international has been with Borussia Monchengladbach for ten years but was linked with a move away last year when Wolverhampton Wanderers were keen.
Indeed, he looked likely to make the switch to Molineux and his family were even believed to have travelled to England to look at potential homes ahead of the move.
That never materialised, though, as Wolves refused to pay Gladbach’s asking price and the deal eventually fell through.
Elvedi has been a key player for the German side again this season as they flirt with potential European qualification and that has attracted interest from England.
This time it is Leeds who are keen, with several reports indicating that they are looking at the defender as they plan a potential bolstering of their squad if they are promoted back to the Premier League.
Elvedi is certainly open to the idea of a switch, although Leeds or any other suitors would have to convince him that they are a step up from his current employers.
“I am a nimble, more agile and generally fitter. I’ve lost about 4 kilograms since the summer,” he said when discussing his changes this season.
“It will probably be another topic after this season,” he added regarding his future.
“I communicated that openly. If something arises, I look at it. However, it must be a step forward, an increase to Gladbach.”
