It seems that Tiemoué Bakayoko and Serie A were made for each other.
Already excelling in Italy during his first stint there on loan at Milan, the Chelsea defensive midfielder returned during the last transfer window, this time with Napoli.
He’s under the same manager, as Gennaro Gattuso was in charge at San Siro two years ago, and things are going well early on.
In fact, there are some already pushing for him to be bought on a permanent basis, such is the impact the Frenchman has had since his move from Stamford Bridge.
One of those is Alfredo Pedulla, who spoke to the TV show Ne Parliamo Il Lunedi on Canale 8, relayed by Spazio Napoli.
Asked about the Chelsea man, he said: “Bakayoko didn’t go to Milan because Chelsea were asking for €30m, but Milan didn’t want to insert the right to buy. He’s happy at Napoli, and indispensable there. I hope they will buy him outright in January.
“I see him like the building block of the new cycle. He’s your and is a player that gives you tactical stability, like Cambiasso”.
That’s quite the comparison, and one Bakayoko would undoubtedly be chuffed with, but it does beg the question why the midfielder wasn’t given more time at Stamford Bridge.
There’s definitely a good player in there if the conditions are right, and considering Chelsea spent a hefty sum on him, it could have been worth a go.
