Everton striker Cenk Tosun has spoken to A Spor after being linked with a move to Fenerbahce.
In recent weeks it’s been reported in both the Turkish and English media that Fenerbahce sporting director Emre Belozoglu wants to sign Cenk Tosun in this transfer window.
However, the Everton player has insisted he hasn’t held any talks with anybody at Fener, and that he’s only focused on recovering from his knee injury: “I haven’t had any talks with Fenerbahce, nor any other club. I am focusing on my recovery at the moment.
“Even if I will join another club, they won’t be able to play me until the end of the first half of the season.”
Tosun also said his priority is to stay at Everton, but if Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t want to continue with him then he will look to play for elsewhere: “If the boss doesn’t want me, then I will consider leaving the club. My priority is to stay in Europe.
“I still have lots of targets to fulfil. I think it’s a bit early to return to Turkey at this stage of my career.”
Due to a lack of games last season, Tosun was loaned out to Crystal Palace during the last transfer window, but he picked up a serious knee injury whilst training with the Eagles.
It’s expected the forward will return to action in October, giving him chance to see what his options are before the winter market. Tosun will be keen to play for Turkey in the Euros next summer, and it’s possible he will need to find a club which can give him regular games.
