Southampton are one of the clubs interested in Uruguayan striker Martin Satriano, according to his agent.
The 21-year-old, who belongs to Inter Milan, has just moved on a loan deal to Empoli, where he’s set to gain more experience this season.
And it turns out that before completing his switch this summer, he was approached by Southampton. The information was revealed by representative Nick Maytum in a chat with Grand Hotel Calcio Mercato.
“There were some teams interested in France, England and Italy, but Empoli are famous for helping young people to grow up. Also, Martin was very happy to be able to do all the preparation with a team,” said Maytum (via FC Inter News).
Satriano started his career playing for Nacional in Uruguay and made the move to Europe in 2020, when Inter Milan signed him in a €2.4m deal. He even stayed with the Nerazzurri for a while, making four appearances for the club, but then they decided it was time to get more minutes elsewhere.
So in January 2022 he was sent to French side Brest, and this summer he made the move to Empoli, where he’s expected to get a full adaptation to Italian football. That seems to be a wise decision, as this season, he already has one goal in six appearances for the Serie A side.
