Morgan Sanson is expected to be announced as an Aston Villa player in the very near future, and the midfielder will finally get his move to the Premier League.
The player has been repeatedly pushed towards the English market in recent years, being seen as someone who Marseille could make some money from, and it looks like they’ll be getting around €15-17m depending on bonus payments.
One man who has clearly been unhappy about the move, and understandably so, is Andre Villas Boas. The Marseille manager last week dismissed Aston Villa’s initial offer for Sanson as being ‘very weak’ and just days later he’s set to see the player leave.
Marseille faced AS Monaco on Saturday, a Ligue 1 match which they lost 3-1. Villas Boas’ situation is now surrounded in more drama and after the match he was asked why Sanson hadn’t taken part.
Quoted by Sunday’s edition of L’Equipe, the manager said: “I asked him if he had the mind to play. He told me it was difficult for him. He therefore left the group in the morning to go to Aston Villa. I don’t know if he will be replaced… You have to ask Pablo (Longoria, the sporting director).”
Of course, none of that is Aston Villa’s problem, and they’ll just be happy to get a signing in.
