The Turkish media are hugely excited about the prospect of Mesut Ozil swapping Arsenal for Fenerbahce this month.
For days, it’s been the biggest story in the country’s sport media, and Thursday evening through to Friday morning saw a whole new stack of claims.
A move is being presented as all agreed, and the story has now got to the point that there’s talk of a big ceremony being planned to present Ozil to his adoring public.
Contracts are expected to be signed relatively quickly, and there’s even been talk of an announcement coming on Saturday.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Ozil has been linked to Fenerbahce, a team he supported as a child, and on previous occasions everything has fallen apart.
There’s hope that won’t be the case this time around, and DHA are so excited they sent a journalist to the region where the Arsenal player’s family are from.
Once in Devrek they managed to find the player’s uncle, Cevdet Ozil, and he’s quoted as saying: “It’s very flattering. He is playing in Europe. He said one day he’d play football at Turkish club, at Fenerbahce.
“Hopefully, he’ll come play in our Turkey. I wish him success.”
The local mayor also spoke of his pleasure over the potential transfer.
