Philippe Sandler left PEC Zwolle for Manchester City in the summer of 2018 and a knee injury forced him to spend the first few months of last season on the sidelines.
The 22-year-old failed to find place in Pep Guardiola’s side and was restricted to an appearance in each of the EFL Cup and FA Cup.
City allowed the centre-back to join Anderlecht on a season-long loan deal in the summer to get regular playing time.
Sandler missed his side’s 4-1 victory over Sint-Truiden and after the tie, Anderlecht coach Frank Vercauteren claimed the City owned player’s recovery from a recent injury seemed to be better than expected.
Anderlecht face Eupen on Friday and Gent during next week, and Vercauteren now suggests Sandler could be unavailable for the clash against the latter.
“It is difficult to make predictions about a return. It is therefore highly questionable whether Sandler will make it to the midweek game against AA Gent,” Vercauteren said.
Het Laatste Nieuws report there is a ‘hint of mystery’ over Sandler’s latest injury, and he’s travelled to Spain to visit specialists.
Sandler has made 10 appearances in all competitions for the Jupiler Pro League side this season.
