Sandro Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Riso has told TuttoMercatoWeb that he’s delighted after the midfielder completed a transfer to Newcastle United.
The Magpies signed the 23-year-old from AC Milan for a reported €70m, making him the most expensive Italian player of all time in the process.
Having sealed a move to Newcastle, Tonali returned to Italy on Thursday, where he told reporters that it was the most difficult decision of his career. The player was accompanied by Riso.
“The operation will go down in history, we are happy and proud. I see him calm,” he said.
The Italy international’s representative admitted it would have been hard for his client and the Serie A side to dismiss the offer.
“When clubs like Newcastle or others from the Premier League appear, which is the NBA of football, it is right for all parties to sit down and discuss it,” Riso explained.
When immediately asked how satisfied he was after getting the deal over the line, Riso remembered super-agent Mino Raiola, who passed away a year ago.
“A lot. I say one thing: I would like to take the opportunity to remember Mino Raiola, he’s missed so much and that’s felt. He changed our way of working and improved it. He created the show. I would like an award or a day to remember him. He deserves it,” the agent added.
Tonali has signed a five-year deal with Newcastle.
