There’s one thing, and perhaps only one thing, we can’t fault Don Balon for, and that’s having a great imagination.
The Spanish rumour website seem to especially excel when it comes to Manchester City, with the combination of Pep Guardiola and all that money making a irresistible combination for nonsense.
One of our recent Don Balon favourites was them claiming Florentino Perez is working to get Phil Foden to Real Madrid, but on Saturday they come up with another classic of the genre.
Pep Guardiola ‘just wants touch-ups’ to his squad ahead of next season, to prevent the kind of display which Manchester City put on at Anfield this week.
And that rather little tweaking has seen the manager ask ‘for €200m to try the signing of his ideal player without counting Leo Messi: Sergio Busquets.’
Yep, you read that right.
According to Don Balon, Guardiola wants his club to spend €200m on Busquets, who turns 30 years of age in July.
Like we said, they can’t be faulted for imagination.
