New AEK defender Joleon Lescott have impressed everyone during his first few days in Athens, reveals Sport24. The 34-year old arrived in Athens after a long flight from Birmingham and had his medical before penning a contract.
After all this, manager Temur Ketsbaia offered him a chance to rest rather than training but Lescott firmly said no and completed the double session with his new team mates.
There’s a concern about Lescott’s attitude in Greece because of the some of the controversial things the defender did during his Aston Villa days, most notably picturing a sport car on Twitter after a 6-1 defeat to Liverpool.
But his first few days were positive and AEK staff are very hopeful that he will bring experience, composure and leadership to this young team who will challenge with Olympiakos, Panathinaikos and PAOK for the Greek SuperLeague title.
Lescott was apparently fantastic in the two training sessions and he’s always willing to get the ball, start things from the back and always communicates with his team-mates, organising his defence.
Although he needs to work very hard to catch up his team-mates in fitness because the player spent the entire pre-season training on his own.
