RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons has insisted he can’t wait to take on Manchester City in the Champions League this week.
The youngster has been speaking ahead of the Champions League clash between the two sides, with Manchester City travelling to Leipzig for their match tomorrow.
The two sides are undoubtedly the favourites to get out of Group G, which also contains Young Boys and Crvena Zvezda.
They both won their opening games, with Manchester City eventually overcoming Crvena Zvezda after something of a scare and Leipzig running out 3-1 winners over Young Boys.
It means this game could prove to be crucial to who ends up topping the group and, theoretically at least, getting the better tie in the knockout stages.
Coming up against Pep Guardiola’s side is no mean or enjoyable feat, although they are not without their weaknesses, as Wolves proved in the Premier League at the weekend.
That result should give Leipzig hope of securing a famous win and Simons is certainly looking forward to the game, insisting he can’t wait to test himself against the best in Europe.
“I enjoyed the match against Young Boys, but I really can’t wait for this,” he said.
“Goosebumps, very nice. It will be a nice, very tough match, but we will be playing at home again after a few weeks and I am looking forward to it.
“I think everyone knows their playing style, but a match is 50/50, we play at home and that is very important. Of course, we respect them, but this is a new season with new players and therefore new opportunities.”
