Manchester City’s interest in Ajax youngster Gabriel Misehouy was mentioned again today by the Dutch media.

SoccerNews features some quotes from journalist Mark Verweij on the Kick-Off podcast.

There, they had been speaking about players who could leave Ajax soon, and Manchester City’s interest in the 18-year-old was one of the subjects.

“Misehouy is also in the interest of a number of English clubs such as Manchester City. What is special is that he has an agent for the Netherlands and abroad. But that boy is now training with the first team and is making very good progress.

“Ajax certainly hopes that he will be wise enough to stay in the Netherlands for a few more years and sign a new contract.”

The reports about Manchester City’s interest in Misehouy started back in November, when it was claimed that they were monitoring his performances, although the Dutch media soon responded with stories claiming that Ajax will work hard to keep the youngster at the club. His contract there expires in the summer.

Back then, the local press even managed to speak to the teenager about the interest from Pep Guardiola’s side, and he admitted that he’s flattered, despite claiming he was fully focused on staying at the Eredivisie giants.

Misehouy is still playing for Ajax’s youth ranks, where he has seven goals and three assists in 12 appearances this season. It shouldn’t take long until the first team line him up, especially with Manchester City knocking on his door.
