Liverpool’s interest in Luis Díaz has been reported several times in Portugal in the past few weeks.

On December 7th, Marca reported the Reds ‘want him’ and their interest in the FC Porto star has caused worry for Atlético Madrid, who are also looking at the winger.

Díaz has 13 goals and three assists in all competitions this season and also starred for Colombia in the Copa América. His form for club and country has caught attention of the Merseyside club, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

That’s according to Fichajes.net, who add Jürgen Klopp’s side are the ‘most interested’ and one of the ‘best positioned’ teams to sign the 24-year-old.

It’s explained the Colombia international’s ‘level is extraordinary’ and he is ‘just exploding’, which has caught the eye of the Anfield club’s scouts.

Porto failed to get past the Champions League group stages and ‘economically, it is not great news for them’. On the other hand, it is ‘good news for Liverpool’, who can ‘take advantage’ of the Portuguese club’s situation.

The Premier League side have already confirmed their sporting director, Michael Edwards, will step down from his position at the end of this season.

Fichajes.net state Edwards ‘wants to make one last smart move’ before he leaves, by helping his current side sign a ‘long-term promise’ in the form of  Díaz. The player’s form for Porto suggests he can become ‘emblematic’, wherever he goes. Whether it will be Liverpool or another club remains to be seen.
