Arsenal scouts are expected to be at tonight’s Serie A game between Genoa and Chievo Verona, Italian website Tutto Mercato Web reports.
According to the outlet, Arsenal will be there to keep an eye on a special target, who is 16-year-old Genoa wonderkid Pietro Pellegri.
AS Monaco are the other side who will be sending emissaries, so the level of clubs interested gives an idea of how potentially big this one could get.
Having come from Genoa’s academy, the youngster only made three appearances last season. He played two minutes against Torino, another three against Chievo, and when he really had the chance to show something, as he started against Roma, he scored his first professional goal.
Pellegri also impressed last weekend, in his first appearance this season, and scored both of Genoa’s goals in the 3-2 loss against Lazio.
Now Arsene Wenger probably wants to know what the hype is all about. A Serie A record of one goal per 44 minutes isn’t bad at all and Arsenal may want to get in there before Monaco sell him for €150m in 3 years.
