Roberto De Zerbi left Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of the recently concluded season and the Seagulls are yet to appoint his successor.
The Premier League side have their eyes set on FC St. Pauli manager Fabian Hürzeler.
That’s according to Sky Deutschland, who say Brighton have concrete interest in the 31-year-old.
Hürzeler, who started his coaching career at FC Pipinsried in 2016, joined St. Pauli in 2022, and was instrumental in helping them secure promotion to the top flight by winning the 2. Bundesliga.
His work for St. Pauli seems to have convinced the Seagulls, and the report says the German is one of the main candidates to take over the vacant job at The Amex. Brighton have already initiated contact with Hürzeler.
Sky report the manager doesn’t have a release clause in his current deal, and he hasn’t yet made a decision on Brighton. They haven’t contacted St. Pauli yet, but with the Premier League side keen on Hürzeler, that could happen quickly.
If Hürzeler were to join Brighton, he’ll become the youngest manager in the Premier League.
Recent claims have said Brighton are also looking at Malmö FF manager Henrik Rydström.
