Manchester City loanee Gabriel Jesus has been criticised for his form dropping after signing for the English club.

The 19-year-old remained at Palmeiras after being signed by Pep Guardiola’s side, and he’s set to physically move to England in January.

Palmeiras are in the quarterfinals of Copa do Brasil and on top of the Brazilian league table, but the journalist Roberto Avallone says Gabriel Jesus has stopped being the team’s star since signing for Manchester City.

Commenting on SporTV about Palmeiras’ last game, Avallone said: “Gabriel Jesus, who was a 8.5 rating before being sold, for coincidence now is a 6.5, 7 player.” (via Torcedores).

“He won a penalty, but isn’t that dangerous player anymore, who goes here and there. Now he simply plays.”

Avallone is a personality on Brazilian TV and has a history of exaggerated opinions, but has been taking things more seriously recently. And as an admitted Palmeiras fan, he’s probably truly mad at the youngster.

Gabriel Jesus scored has only once in six matches for Palmeiras since signing for the English side. With 11 goals, he’s the Brazilian league’s top scorer, tied with the former Manchester City striker Robinho.

The player signed a five-year deal with Manchester City, who will pay Palmeiras €32m for the transfer.
