Fulham signed André-Frank Zambo Anguissa from Marseille on deadline day of the 2018 summer transfer window for a reported fee of £30m.
The Cottagers weren’t able to benefit from their big signings, and were subsequently relegated from the Premier League, meaning an exit for the midfielder has been on the cards.
On July 25th, we carried a report from AS, who explained that Villarreal are ‘close to signing’ the Cameroon international, but there was no mention whether it would be a loan deal or a permanent transfer.
Friday’s edition of AS now claims the La Liga side will sign the 23-year-old on a temporary deal with an option to make the transfer permanent next summer.
It’s also claimed Zambo Anguissa was in Castellón yesterday for his medical and the transfer could be announced today, provided there are no last-minute surprises.
After completing the loan move, Zambo Anguissa will travel to Austria, where he will join his new teammates for preseason training.
He’s been the main target for Villarreal for several weeks, but his signing has been ‘complicated’ for the club as they had ‘a lot’ to negotiate with Fulham.
