Returning from Russia to France in January, Yann M’Vila enjoyed a very productive second half of the season with AS Saint-Etienne.
Bouncing from club to club ever since leaving Rennes in 2013, the 28-year-old finally appeared to have settled somewhere, helping him enjoy football again and putting a smile back on his face.
However, if Crystal Palace and Fulham have their way this summer, he could end up moving again, as Foot Mercato in France believe the pair are keeping an eye on the defensive midfielder.
Much like their interest in Yves Bissouma, the Cottagers looking at M’Vila makes a lot of sense, needing reinforcements in midfield ahead of what could be a difficult season in the Premier League.
As for Crystal Palace, there is now an obvious gap in their squad following the departure of Yohan Cabaye on a free after the French midfielder’s contract expired at the end of June.
This also isn’t the first time Roy Hodgson’s side have been linked with the player, as France Football reported back in May the club were ‘very interested’ in returning him to England.
The positive for both the Eagles and Fulham is that M’Vila already knows the Premier League from his time on loan at Sunderland, and has stated many times that he enjoyed his spell in England above all others in his career.
Of course, there’s the Saint-Etienne obstacle to overcome, but Foot Mercato explain the defensive midfielder has an ‘exit pass’ in case of an offer both parties would be happy with.
Now it’s up to Fulham and Crystal Palace to come up with something that fits that criteria.
