Watford had a nightmare end to the season, and despite earlier hopes of survival saw themselves relegated from England’s top flight on the final day of the Premier League campaign.
Now comes the reckoning, a time which will bring a new manager, see key players leave, and potentially bring in a major restructure.
French newspaper L’Equipe report Sports Director Eric Roy has left the club. He only joined in December 2019 so didn’t really have much time to make an impact, yet he’s parting ways with the Hornets as his contract has come to an end.
L’Equipe state there would have possibly been an extension but that idea went out of the window when relegation was confirmed, and now Watford are ‘considering restructuring themselves in a different way’.
That may not be the key part of the report from France, given the newspaper also states Abdoulaye Doucouré is set to leave the club.
The 27 year old midfielder has a contract lasting until June 2023, yet it would appear he isn’t attracted by the prospect of Championship football next season.
