Seemingly convincing Rudi Garcia enough to ensure two starts on the trot, Clinton N’Jié has impressed in his last few outings for Marseille, with the player currently on loan from Tottenham.
Deemed surplus to requirements by Mauricio Pochettino, the Cameroon forward was returned to France on a temporary basis, and talk of an ‘automatic buy out clause’ being inserted in the deal circulated when the transfer eventually happened towards the end of the summer.
Present during the team’s press conference, relayed by Le10 Sport, ahead of their Coupe de la Ligue clash against Sochaux on Tuesday evening, the 23-year-old took the time to clarify his future, ensuring his time in Marseille was going well as things stood.
He said: “Today, I just want to have a good season, and there will be talks at the end of the season. There are some positive things with the new owner. An automatic option to buy? It’s a bit more complicated than that. I’m here for a year, and we’ll talk at the end of the season. I don’t know where I will be next year. We’ll talk about it later.”
Accused as failing to have any interest in Marseille’s project, the player has answered his critics recently, which will please Pochettino and Spurs, but with the wealth of attacking players at the Argentinean’s disposal and the emergence of a few reserve players, N’Jié’s future could be better off in France when the time to make a decision comes.
