Another day, another Italian story about the future of Antonio Conte, or in this case, how his could affect Carlo Ancelotti’s.
Regardless of what the Chelsea manager says, it seems the media have already decided he won’t be at Stamford Bridge next season, and that the Blues’ hierarchy are already well underway in their search for a potential replacement.
This is where Ancelotti, a fan favourite, comes in, and Corriere dello Sport make it seem like it could actually happen, mostly because the idea of returning to work for the London club pleases the former Bayern Munich manager.
The story comes at a time when the Italian has also been linked with the Croatia job, although the daily newspaper state that is only a ‘hypothesis’ for now rather than a concrete link.
While Antonio Conte seems determined to stay at Stamford Bridge, we’ll have to wait and see how the current campaign pans out, as Chelsea have struggled to replicate last season’s form, currently nine points behind leaders Manchester City after just 11 games.
Anything outside of a top four finish will undoubtedly be heavily punished by Roman Abramovich, and the longer the Blues remain in their current position, the tougher it will be to ignore the stories surrounding their manager’s future.
