Emerson Royal is ‘willing’ to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer and sign for Atletico Madrid, report Marca on Wednesday.
Barcelona sold the 23-year-old to Spurs at the end of the last summer window, for a figure around €25m. So far this season he’s made 33 appearances for Tottenham, although he’s lost some minutes under Antonio Conte recently and didn’t feature in the mauling of Everton earlier this week.
Marca explain interest from Diego Simeone’s side isn’t new, because they were keen before the player swapped Barcelona for Tottenham. Now there’s interest again, and ‘first contacts’ were made over the move about a month ago.
According to the report, Inter Milan have also been in contact with the player’s camp, but he’d much prefer a move back to Spain to a new adventure in Italian football.
Atletico have also been considering Aston Villa’s Matty Cash, although they would give preference to the Spurs player due to his experience in Spanish football.
This all sounds like it could be coming from a source close to the player.
