Revealing back in early August that he wanted to leave Leicester City, Adrien Silva and his agents have been trying to find the best option for him.

After around a month of looking around Europe, it appears the Portuguese midfielder is finally set to exit King Power Stadium after what have been three very frustrating years.

Arriving from Sporting CP for £22.5m, the player wasn’t able to play for the first six months of his stay in Leicester because the Foxes missed the registration deadline.

After that, now 31-year-old only ever made 21 appearances, picking up three assists, before heading to AS Monaco on loan for a year and a half.

Now back in England, it appears the Portugal international is heading to Sampdoria, according to a couple of reports.

Corriere dello Sport explain Sampdoria are ‘valuing’ the idea of bringing in Silva from Leicester, while TuttoMercatoWeb have a bit more.

They claimed late on Sunday evening that ‘fruitful contacts’ have been taking place for days for the Portuguese midfielder.

In fact, all that’s expected before the ‘white smoke’ are the ‘final details to sort out with the player on an economic level’, while Claudio Ranieri has already given his ‘OK’ from Sampdoria’s end.

As things stand, the player’s contract with Leicester is set to expire in 2021, so we’ll have to wait and see if any money exchanges hands or if he follows in the footsteps of the likes of Alexis Sánchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan by agreeing to cancel his deal to facilitate an exit.
