‘El virus FIFA’, say Marca, is providing a headache for Zinedine Zidane ahead of facing Tottenham next week.
Tottenham travel to the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday in a match which will help decide who finishes top of the Champions League group, assuming both clubs keep up their European form.
Zidane could be without goalkeeper Keylor Navas, explain Marca, and it’s a big deal heading into the match. Whilst away with Costa Rica, helping them qualify for the World Cup, Navas picked up a muscle injury and it’s made him very doubtful for the Tottenham game.
Mauricio Pochettino can no doubt sympathise with Zidane’s situation, himself probably with shorter fingernails after the international break, but Tottenham will take any advantage they can get in Madrid.
Whilst Navas isn’t yet completely ruled out, he’s clearly a serious worry, with Marca giving the issue almost a full page in their Wednesday edition.
Real Madrid will try all they can to allow Navas to prove his fitness and play against Tottenham, but Marca say pressure won’t be put on the goalkeeper to play if he’s not feeling completely ready.
