Earlier this week, it was mentioned in the Spanish media that as well as working on a deal with Leeds United for Marc Roca, Real Betis were interested in Junior Firpo.

That information is now being corroborated in France by Foot Mercato, who explain that the Elland Road defender is a target for the La Liga side.

Since he has only been used twice in the Championship by Leeds manager Daniel Farke, a move away in January could be a good deal for all parties.

However, there is little chance of Betis forking out a lot of money for the 27-year-old, meaning a loan deal would be far more favourable.

Down his end, Firpo ‘wants to leave’ Leeds in the winter transfer window, and since he knows the La Liga side well from his five years spent there between 2014 and 2019, he will undoubtedly welcome that option.

One to keep an eye on, but there doesn’t tend to be this amount of smoke without some sort of fire, and if a deal is there to be done, expect Betis to come knocking on Leeds’ door in the near future.
