Watford are looking increasingly unlikely to make the full €15m they could have from the sale of striker Luis Suarez two years ago.
That’s according to Ideal, who explain that the striker’s poor performances for the Spanish side have made the likelihood of Granada paying for 100% of his rights very slim.
Suarez is the most expensive signing in Granada’s history after joining them from Watford in a £6.3m deal back in October 2020.
He arrived with a big reputation after shining in the Spanish second division but has struggled to replicate that with Granada, managing just 13 goals in 65 appearances so far.
This season has been a particular struggle for him, with it stated that he is ‘falling prey to anxiety’ that is causing his choices in the final third to be ‘far from correct’.
That’s concerning for Granada, whose investment already ‘exceeds’ €10m and would go as high as €15m if they were to acquire 100% of his rights from Watford.
That is a ‘hefty sum’ for a club with a ‘modest economy’ and especially for a striker who has not compensated the club with ‘excessive goals’. In other words, he’s not been value for money and certainly wouldn’t be if they had to pay Watford €15m.
