Fabio Paratici could be a soap opera himself, with endless Italian stories in recent months about which club he may be joining and negotiations with those.
He’s been working as an outside consultant for Tottenham Hotspur since he was banned from working in football directly. There had been an expectation that he’d return to Italy, with multiple Serie A clubs interested in appointing him.
There were then suggestions that outside forces were trying to prevent his return to Italian football and it all got rather complicated and clandestine.
AC Milan have been one of the clubs most strongly linked. Their owner Gerry Cardinale recently had a meeting with Paratici at a luxury resort bordering Lake Como, report Corriere della Sera.
Corriere dello Sport report Cardinale failed to ‘reach white smoke’.
We’ll let you make your own topical jokes about the owner’s name and white smoke, but it’s explained Paratici felt somewhat messed around by Milan and isn’t convinced everyone at the club wants him.
Therefore, he’d started talking to others. This is where Tottenham come in.
Corriere della Sera state: ‘The former Juventus transfer man, suspended until July 20th for the capital gains scandal during his time as Madama, will sign with Tottenham.’
Corriere dello Sport report: ‘He will most likely return to being a Tottenham manager after his disqualification.’
