On July 26th, Tuttosport reported Daniele Rugani’s departure from Juventus was on ‘stand by’.
Chelsea are interested in the 23-year-old and the Old Lady are waiting to see if the Blues will make a new attempt to sign the defender. The report also claims there is more than money involved in the process.
The Turin club may put his sale on hold, if they allow another defender leave on loan. The Serie A winners are looking to re-sign Leonardo Bonucci from AC Milan.
If he arrives, Massimiliano Allegri’s side will allow Mattia Caldara to move to the San Siro on a loan deal. Juventus are unwilling to allow two centre-backs leave the club in the same transfer window, meaning Rugani could continue with his current employers.
That perhaps doesn’t make a great deal of sense considering Bonucci would be arriving.
Rugani’s agent Davide Torchia spoke to Radio Vecchia Signora, via TMW, and confirmed Chelsea have submitted a “very important offer”. He also revealed Juventus are not interested in negotiating with the FA Cup winners, but stressed the situation could change.
“For Rugani, Chelsea made a very important offer, but Juventus does not want to make negotiations. They do not want to give up on the player. However, Bonucci’s case suggests that everything is possible,” said Torchia.
