Everton star Richarlison is helping his home town in Brazil during the Coronavirus crises.
As reported by website Globo Esporte today, the player has donated 500 food baskets to the city of Nova Venécia.
It’s Richarlison’s family who have been handling the donations, going from door to door so people don’t have to gather outside. All the deliveries are being followed by the city’s Health Secretary.
Globo Esporte reports that the baskets include foods such as rice, beans and cooking oil, as well as hygiene and cleaning products, such as toilet paper, soap and toothpaste.
The website recalls that this isn’t the first time the player helps his old city. He’s already donated 6.4 tonnes of food following a charity game. Last year, he paid for local kids to take part in the Mathematical Olympiad, and also demanded more education investment from the local government.
The poor population in Brazil has been struggling during the Coronavirus outbreak, since most of them depend on sales from their own small businesses to survive, with many people also being fired in this period.
Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz did a similar donation in Rio de Janeiro last week.
