Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly has been strongly linked to Chelsea in the last couple of months.
The Serie A club, however, have no plans to sell him after managing to qualify for the Champions League.
Koulibaly’s comments in the media have made things even more complicated. Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has made it very clear that the defender should stay at the club.
Latest reports suggest Chelsea might not be the only club interested in taking the Senegalese defender in the Premier League.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Everton are also interested in Koulibaly, and have already made an offer of €40m,
Di Marzio says Everton are very serious about their interest, and their offer is higher than that of Chelsea.
Reports in the media do suggest Everton have a big transfer kitty to spend this summer, but this very well could be a ploy to get more money from Chelsea. But then again, if John Stones is heading for the exit a replacement is going to be needed.
It’s quite possible Aurelio De Laurentiis has accepted the player is no longer interested in playing for Napoli, and a transfer is in the best interests of the club.
So, maybe it’s time to get the maximum transfer fee for the player.
