Everton’s name is in most of the Portuguese newspapers on Thursday. And the reason for it is because they didn’t sign a player.
The Toffees were said to be leading the race for Yacine Brahimi, whose departure from Porto had been given as certain for quite a few weeks.
However, the deal never happened, and now Porto will have to keep the player at least until January.
It’s just a bit funny how Everton keep being linked to the player, since none of the papers claim the negotiations had reached advanced stages. They only mention the interest and say that Everton never reached what Porto were asking.
And of course they didn’t. According to recent reports, the Portuguese club were demanding €40m for a player who hasn’t even been included in matchday squads recently.
The papers don’t say how much were Everton offering, but it was not enough to convince Porto.
