Armando Izzo appears to be a man in demand this summer, particularly in the Premier League.

On Thursday, we brought you news, courtesy of Tutto Mercato Web, that his agent was in London and potentially had a meeting scheduled with Arsenal.

They believed that Arsenal have been tracking Izzo for some time and may be tempted to open negotiations for him.

Tuttosport have added to that story today and claim that it is not only Arsenal who are keen. Apparently, alongside Manchester United, Everton have joined the race for his signature.

It’s stated the Tofees, and the others, ‘want him’.

The newspaper back up the claim that his agent Paolo Palermo was in London recently, but say he spent two days talking to intermediaries from various clubs.

Presumably one of those was Everton and it would make sense for him to meet the club in the capital given Bill Kenwright has offices there.

Potential interest from Everton is not that far fetched either. They need a centre back this summer, with Kurt Zouma returning to Chelsea and Phil Jagielka departing.

Their preference is to get Zouma permanently, but it would make sense for them to look elsewhere in case Chelsea refuse to sell. Izzo would be a good, low-cost alternative and can also play right back, another area Everton need to strengthen in this summer.

Much like the earlier story of talks in London, though, this smells strongly of an agent leaking stories to drum up competition and interest in his client which is standard practice at this time of the year.
