There’s something a little strange going on with Armando Izzo.

A couple of days ago we covered claims from Italy that the player’s agent was in London and could have a chat with Arsenal about a possible transfer for the Torino defender.

It was all very speculative, and based upon the Gunners having scouted him.

Two days later and Tuttosport go massive with the story. Now it’s claimed Manchester United, Everton and Arsenal all ‘want’ him.

The agent is said to have flown to England this week, holding meetings on Wednesday and Thursday in London. Those meetings were with market intermediaries, the people who try and build deals and present them to clubs, without actually representing the player involved.

How it jumps from there to all those clubs being keen is unknown.

The 27 year old only moved to Torino from Genoa last summer. Since then he’s made his international debut, representing Italy once, in March.

Naming clubs such as Manchester United could be an effort to drum up other interest, or to try and help Izzo get himself a better Torino contract despite only signing his current one last July.

He just seems an unlikely option for Manchester United.
