Coming extremely close to signing Ishak belfodil from Standard Liège, Everton manager Ronald Koeman eventually decided to pull the plug on the deal, at least, according to France Football.
The story from Belgium is a bit different, with claims that Everton ended up screwing up the deal by trying to include extra agents for some unknown reason.
Either way, the transfer never happened, and now other teams are getting a chance at signing the Algerian striker, who has 10 goals and five assists to his name already this season.
Everton were said to have agreed a €12m fee with Standard Liège for the target man, and now Celta Vigo appear to be keen on the 25-year-old.
France Football are reporting on Tuesday the Spanish club, who were already interested in the player before his proposed move to Goodison Park, are now back trying to get a deal done.
However, Standard Liège appear uninterested in getting a deal done, having only accepted Everton’s offer as they didn’t want to stand in the way of Belfodil’s desire to play in the Premier League.
Anderlecht and Gent are also mentioned as potential destinations for the striker, yet it seems that, after signing a one-year contract extension, the player is more than likely to see out the season with his current team.
That is, unless Everton rekindle their interest or another Premier League club swoop over the next week.
