Wayne Rooney finally surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton’s 249 goals for Manchester United on Saturday with a last-minute free-kick against Mark Hughes’ Stoke, and we can now all rest easy knowing commentators won’t be asking ‘When will it finally happen?’ anymore during games.

Scoring 250 goals for any team is an achievement, but doing it for one of the biggest teams in the world, at the highest level, is something else altogether, and even the staunchest Rooney haters will find it hard to disagree with this.

Betway Insider, to celebrate the occasion, produced a great infographic looking in detail and how, when and where Rooney scored all 250 of his goals.

Looking at the teams the England and Manchester United all-time goalscorer scored the most against, you quickly realise, if you hadn’t already, how important the player has been to the club, and how great some of those goals were.

Unfortunately for Aston Villa, they were the biggest casualty, letting the former Everton starlet score 14 times against them.

To start off with, let’s take you back to the 4th of April 2015, the most recent goal on this list, when Angel Di Maria was still a Manchester United player, and delivered a slightly awkward cross into the box, only for Rooney to take it down with a great touch, turn and hammer it into the top corner.

Newcastle are next on the list, against whom Rooney scored 13 times, and here, there’s only one goal that springs to mind.

We’ll let commentating do the talking on this one.

West Ham? Well, the goal from the halfway line, of course.

Having scored 12 goals against Arsenal, it’s hard to pick one out exactly, yet most Manchester United fans will remember his brace of free-kicks during the 8-2 drubbing of Arsène Wenger’s side back in 2011.

Of course, we’re not going to go through each and every team on the infographic, but looking at the remaining teams, we felt the need to include that goal against Manchester City.

The strike’s timing and importance in the title race that year were vital for Sir Alex Ferguson’s team.

Even if the Old Trafford faithful might have fallen out of love with the striker over the past few years due to some dwindling performances, few can deny he provided them with some great memories over his 13 years at the club.

With 250 goals to his name, and the record now his, the big question now is: What next for Wayne Rooney?
