Everton are showing a ‘strong interest’ in Roma forward Cengiz Ünder with his future at the Serie A side uncertain.
The Turkish international has endured a frustrating season, managing just 20 games and three goals in all competitions.
He’s managed just nine starts in the league this season, with Roma boss Paulo Fonseca preferring other options in his forward line.
As a result, Ünder’s future is far from clear, with reports in January suggesting they would be happy to sell as he was no longer ‘non-transferable’.
Everton were named among those who could be interested, with it believed that Carlo Ancelotti was a fan of the forward and wanted to take him to Goodison Park.
That claim is backed up by Gazzetta di Parma, who say the Blues are showing ‘strong interest’ in Ünder ahead of the summer transfer window.
A potential asking price isn’t mentioned, although it is made clear that any possible move would ‘depend on the will of the player’, suggesting Everton may have to convince him to leave Rome.
Ünder, though, could be a smart signing for Everton. They are on the hunt for a right-winger this summer so he would fill that need nicely.
At 22 he is also in the right age bracket, with the club having made signing young players they can develop a priority ahead of established stars.
He could also be available for a reasonable price if Roma are looking to cut their losses, adding another plus point that may make Everton consider a move.
